August Issue of the Iris

We'd like to invite everyone to our VERY POPULAR Third Thirsty Thursday this week on August 19th, 6pm at Sly Fox. This month's theme is Summer Beach Fun; wear your favorite beach attire and come out and join us. The first 100 people will receive a free gift.

Attached please find our August newsletter. Some of the highlights include:

  • A shout-out to our black-owned businesses in the area! August is black-owned business month; join us in recognizing, celebrating, and building awareness of these local resources. Thank you to Wynton Butler II, Penn State graduate and Reading High for compiling the list!

  • We have acquired a satellite location and will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at the end of Sept. Some of the highlights about the new space and what we plan to offer:

  • Drop-in Center - with a game room.

  • Emergency shelter (adults).

  • Laundry facility.

  • Weekly soup kitchen (hot meals).

  • Life skills programming.

  • Clinical programming - expand counseling program, care coordination and support group expansion.

  • Sensory space for those with neuro-diverse diagnoses.

  • We also have our spotlight on Bethany Children's Home in this issue; we love to highlight businesses and organizations that are doing great things in Berks!
