Communications and Social Media Intern

Location: Online (Remote Work), should reside in or be familiar with southeastern PA

Summary of Principal Functions: The LGBT Center of Reading Communications/Marketing Intern will be responsible for the development and implementation of a multi-platform, marketing, and communications strategy, heavily focused on social media.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with the expansion of the LGBT Center of Reading’s social media strategy;
• Help enhance and strengthen the LGBT Center of Reading’s social media presence on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others;
• Develop digital content including blog posts, e-mail blasts, and social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn);
• Coordinate with executive director and communications committee of the board of directors; 

• Assist with editorial management and influencer outreach;
• Assist with social media metrics reporting, utilizing tools such as Facebook Analytics, HootSuite, etc.;
• Identify opportunities for the LGBT Center of Reading to expand its social media presence;
• Execute marketing programs, analyze their success, and recommend improvements
• Identify emerging trends in the digital space and provide recommendations on execution;
• Provide proactive, creative ideas to integrate fundraising into the LGBT Center of Reading’s strategic vision.

Education Needed: Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in English, Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Communications, or other relevant major.
 
Experience Needed: No previous experience required.

Grant Writing Volunteer/Intern

Location: Online (Remote Work), should reside in or be familiar with southeastern PA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Evaluate grant opportunities available to LGBT Center of Greater Reading

  • Determines grant proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, and studying requests for proposal (RFPs).

  • Prepare high-level proposal pitches for executive director and board of directors for potential grants, angles, and supporting data

  • Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

  • Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.

  • Establish priorities, target dates, and any necessary assignments for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.

  • Coordinates requirements with contributors and hold status reviews formally and informally.

 

Education Needed: Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Management, Communications, Non-Profit Leadership, or other relevant major.

Experience Needed: no previous experience needed.
