​Job Title: Counseling and Social Work Intern


Overview:
The LGBT Center of Greater Reading is a thriving and dynamic organization with locations in Reading and satellite offices in Montgomery and Lancaster counties.  Our mission is to provide support, advocacy and resources.  We are looking for social work interns who have a passion for working with underserved communities.  The ideal candidate for the position will be able to work with clients in a variety of roles including counseling (MSW level only), group facilitation and care coordination.

Duties:

  • Provide individual mental health counseling to clients

  • Facilitate mental health group therapy sessions.

  • Conduct BioPsychoSocial interviews, develop treatment plans, and maintain accurate progress notes including therapeutic interventions in treatment.

  • Provide care coordination to individuals in need.  Broker services (Shelter, domestic violence resources, access to food through out Food Pantry, legal services)

 

Requirements:

  • You must be working toward a BSW or an MSW in an accredited program.

  • You must be part of a school internship program and have a field instructor.

  • Professional maturity is a must.

  • Working knowledge of LGBT language and an understanding of the challenges faced by the community is a plus

  • Participation in all training sessions.

  • You must be tech savvy (ability to use Electronic Health Record System, Excel, and Word).

  • Ability to travel to multiple locations.

  • Clearances (FBI, PATCH, and Childline) must be up to date and valid through the internship period

  • Personal Liability insurance of $1,000,000.

  • Provide individual mental health counseling to clients.

  • Facilitate mental health group therapy sessions.

  • Conduct BioPsychoSocial interviews, develop treatment plans, and maintain accurate progress notes including therapeutic interventions in treatment.

 

Requirements:

  • You must be working toward a Masters in Counseling in an accredited program.

  • You must be part of a school internship program and have a field instructor.
